Religious Connection

The tradition of wearing apparel and charm bracelets has been alive since past thousands of years. Though the designs and materials have changed, the tradition itself has never been forgotten.

At the initial stage, this kind of jewelry had a religious importance in the prehistoric age. According to the president of Jewelry Information Center, Elizabeth Florence, “The first charm bracelets were perhaps worn by the Persians, Babylonians, Hittites and Assyrians from 500 B.C to 400 B.C”.

Those charm bracelets were made up of rock crystal, lapis lazuli and other gems. Those charm bracelets were also inscribed with tiny designs like figures of man, animals and gods. They were related with special kind of powers.
As years passed, charm bracelets lost their spiritual importance and ultimately became a part of fashion jewellery. The early years of 1890s saw a new start of charms, mainly in Victorian England, where intricate and elaborate jewelry was in rage. Queen Victoria popularized the trend of wearing charm bracelets by wearing a tiny locket containing family portraits.
